Turul Dunării este o inițiativă a Cycling Romania sprijinită de Asociația ROI. Cicloturismul are un potențial ridicat de creștere în România și acum este momentul să ne implicăm.

Principalul obiectiv al proiectului „Turul Dunării” este să promovăm eficient eco-turismul de-a lungul Dunării românești. În prezent există puține informații consistente pentru cicloturiști care vizează această regiune, deși mai bine de o treime din întreaga lungime a Dunării traversează România.

Între 1 și 14 septembrie 2014 un grup de 24 de tineri voluntari vor călători aproximativ 600km pe bicicletă pentru a investiga diverse trasee între Călărași și Tulcea. Prima ediție a turului, în 2013 a fost un succes și a avut o bună acoperire națională. Informațiile adunate despre obiective turistice, monumente istorice, peisaje deosebite, oameni interesanți de-ai locului, locuri de cazare și luat masa vor fi prezentate pe web-portalul Cycling Romania încă în dezvoltare în acest moment. Acesta este un website bilingv (Română/Engleză) și va deveni principala sursă de informare despre cicloturism în România. În prezent căutăm să stabilim parteneriate solide cu organizații interesate să dezvolte turismul de-a lungul Dunării și dornice să lucreze cu tineri și comunități locale.

The Danube Tour is about researching the Romanian shore of the Danube Route on the bicycle. It is a social entrepreneurship initiative of Cycling Romania, supported by ROI Association. Bike touring is an example of best practice regarding shaping attitude of the citizens towards a healthy life style. Cycling has a high growth potential in Romania and now is the moment to get involved!

The main objective of our project is to promote the eco-tourism along Romanian Danube region. Currently, there is few reliable information for cyclists for the Romanian part of the Danube – whose length is more than one third of the river.

During 01 September – 14 September 2014 a group of 24 young Romanian volunteers will ride more than 600 km on bike each, in order to research several routes between Călărași and Tulcea. The gathered information about tourism objectives, historical monuments, beautiful landscape, interesting locals, accommodation & eating places will be shared on a web portal Cycling Romania is currently developing. This is a bilingual website – in English and Romanian – and will become the national trusted information source for bike touring in Romania. The web portal will be released in 2014 and we intend to develop the project during each year.

We are searching for partnerships with organisations interested in developing the tourism in the Danube area and in working with youth, local communities, environment and social entrepreneurship. In order to successfully complete the project we will need support of all kinds: from funds to logistics, equipment, other expenses and useful contacts. We aim at developing partnerships on medium/long term, so that we can continue our project next years.
